Excerpt:

I have found many truths through the vail of grief. Throughout it all, the warm support of others allowed me to see the world through different eyes, I will never be the person I once was.

Everyone, everything is a mirror that provides us a reflection of ourselves. With this comes an opportunity to discover something new, to perceive things in a different light. I got there kicking and screaming, but there is a path forward. It is a difficult prospect to rewrite expectations, the results build a greater threshold for turbulent emotion. Through a heartfelt process personal tools can be developed to find more ease in difficult situations, beginning with self-compassion. Essentially there are two options- grow or not. Both are valid; the former brings with it the opportunity for richer interpersonal relationships moving forward.

The truth is, you cannot continue down that old path, a new one must be forged. In time, we must redefine who we are based on a new set of criteria. It is difficult, but a deeply heart-felt experience.
